Zexcoil Sound Clips

We're working on updating this page with better, more representative samples. Here’s some of our archive clips for now:

Bridge Juicy Bucker: relatively high gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. Hammer of the Gods!

All Positions, Bridge Juicy Bucker, Middle Juicy Bucker, Neck Throaty Bucker: relatively high gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. This clip starts in the neck and repeats the same lick through all 5 positions. This gives a good feel for the relative tone and balance in this set.

All Positions, Bridge Juicy Bucker, Middle Juicy Bucker, Neck Throaty Bucker: clean channel of a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. This clips starts in the neck and works its way down to the bridge. At the end a similar chord sequence is repeated in all 5 positions starting at the bridge and working towards the neck. A good example of the relative tone and balance of this set with a clean setup.

Bridge Juicy Bucker, Neck Throaty Bucker: relatively high gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. This clip starts on the bridge, switches to the neck for the solo, and switches back to the bridge for the last lick of the solo and out. This clip highlights what we really love about the Throaty Bucker: thick, throaty warmth and sweet sustain with no mud!

Fat Single Medium in the Bridge: moderate gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. A good example of the Fat Single with a little bit of break-up.

Fat Single Medium in the Bridge: high gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25 W. Push this baby and it starts to roar, almost in to humbucker territory. Try that with your standard bridge Strat-style pickup!

Bridge Juicy Bucker on the first and third clips, Neck Throaty Bucker on the second. This is a rehearsal from a project that Dr. Scott is working on (the plan is to do this whole album in its entirety!). That’s Scott playing the solos on the left. Moderate to high gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. This was a different recording set-up than the rest, but basically raw and unaffected. A purple special edition Vox wah on the first and third clips, a re-issue script Phase 90 on the second, and a maybe Keeley moded TS9 Tube Screamer as a clean boost here or there, were used.

Bridge Juicy Bucker/Neck Throaty Bucker, Bridge/Middle Fat Single Medium: through a 1965 Vox Pathfinder with a little bit of tremolo. This clip highlights the milky chime of the bridge/neck combo first, versus the plucky quack of the bridge/middle combo.

Bridge Juicy Bucker/Neck Throaty Bucker, Bridge/ Middle Fat Single Medium: through a black face VibroChamp. A little hairy, and another nice example of the bridge/neck chime first, versus the bridge/middle quack.

Bridge Juicy Bucker /Middle Fat Single, Bridge Juicy Bucker/Neck Throaty Bucker: through a black face VibroChamp. Yet another nice example of the bridge/middle plucky quack first, versus the bridge/neck milky chime.

Starts on Bridge Juicy Bucker/Neck Throaty Bucker, switches to Bridge for the lick at about 0:05, then switches to the Neck for the run starting at about 0:09 and back to the Bridge/Neck at about 0:19. Moderate gain through a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W, with a Roland RE-20 Space Echo.

Bridge Juicy Bucker/Neck Throaty Bucker: through a black face VibroChamp with a little tremolo.
